Verdigris is the green that bronze becomes when it is left to the weather. It is time made visible, and it gives this series its name and its colour: pewter-greens, sage, stone, cream, touches of old bronze and a single accent of moss.
The images are built from the patterns of living and weathered things: the branching of a fern, the braiding of a river delta, the slow territories of lichen on stone, a coastline seen from far above. AvaTayana Studio worked towards a particular kind of complexity, detailed enough to hold the eye, ordered enough to rest it, the balance found in many natural forms.
The series asks for the kind of attention you give a hedgerow or a tide pool: unhurried, curious, without a goal. It is about belonging to a world that keeps growing quietly, whether or not anyone is watching.
It opens with Verdigris, metal turning into landscape, and closes with Seed Archive, what is kept for the next season.
