III
Sitters
Six portraits on being seen. AT-III-1 to AT-III-6.
Medium: Generative digital artwork created by AvaTayana Studio using AI generative software; archival pigment (giclée) print, unique (1/1).
Most portraits are of someone. These are not. Every sitter in this series is invented: none is a portrait or likeness of a real person.
What they share with portraiture is the gaze. In most of the six, the sitter looks straight back at you, steadily, and without hurry. The effect is quiet and surprisingly personal: the feeling of being noticed, held in someone's attention, recognised.
The palette is umber, bronze, cream and black, with an ink-blue that appears only in clothing or background. The light is close and warm, the light of a room rather than a studio.
The series opens with The Sitter, a direct gaze that says simply “I see you”, and closes with Unnamed, Remembered, a face you almost recall, which leads into the memories of Keepsakes.
